Factfinding mission “Malaysia – Indonesia”

A&B Partners organized a factfinding mission in Malaysia for a group of independent Belgian entrepreneurs (named Belgian Renewable Energy Group – BREG) and lead by Mr. Johan Vos, co-owner and founder of Wind Vision.
After a month of on-site preparation by Drs. Jean Blondeel, director A&B Partners, an intensive programme in Malaysia was rolled out for the group.
There were meetings with MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Board), SEDA (Sustainable Energy Development Authority), MGTC (Malaysian Green Technology Cooperation) and the MPOB (Malaysian Palmoil Board) in Kuala Lumpur.
A business diner was organized by the EUMCCI (European Malaysian Chamber of Commerce & Industry) where several companies/consultants/organizations were invited.
H.E. Pascal Grégoire, Ambassador of Belgium and Mr. Matthias Van Heusden, First Embassy Secretary were honoury guests.
The Belgian delegation was welcomed at Sime Darby HQ by the Group Strategy Director and team members for renewable energy, the world’s largest oil palm plantation company (by planted area) and the world’s largest producer of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). There was interest in different sorts of collaboration: JV, land rent, biomass + biogas technology.
The delegation visited the provinces of JOHOR, SARAWAK and SABAH and had meetings with: MIDA Johor, RECODA (Regional Corridor Development Authority)(Sarawak), SOPPOA HQ (Sarawak Oil Palm Plantation Owners Association), MIDA Sabah.
In Indonesia, our French partner, Mr. Jean-Baptist Patoir, welcomed the group in Jakarta and organized several meetings with representative organizations in Jakarta in the energy sector. A visit to the Belgian Embassy in Jakarta and a meeting/visit to SIPEF, a Belgian agribusiness group with plantations in Medan was also included. The factfinding mission resulted in the gathering of validated and recent knowhow to develop, create and operate sustainable green energy projects in line with the needs of Malaysian and Indonesian clients.
